Riccardo Alfarè

Architecture and Local Identity

Riccardo Alforè, born in Belluno in 1882, graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice in 1909 and officially became an architect in 1925. His career is marked by intense design activity in Belluno and around Turin. In Belluno, he supervised the design of several architecturally significant buildings, including the Cargnel houses, the Gaggia house, the Coletti palace, the Martini-Valduga house, the Tonegutti-Bellotti garage, the Arrigoni clinic, the Bacchetti garage, the Da Ronch villa, and the Italia cinema.

His stylistic imprint is particularly prominent in the Art Nouveau buildings in Via Caffi, Via Loreto, and Piazza Piloni.

He died in 1969 in the Belluno Retirement Home, leaving an indelible mark on the urban and cultural fabric of his city.
