In Roman times, there was a watchtower, the predecessor of the ancient castle of Ardo erected in the Middle Ages. Studies indicate that the original castle was located on the high bank of the Ardo.

It became a crucial point in the defensive line of the Caminesi. A significant event dates back to 1196, when the bishop of Belluno, Gerardo de Taccoli, conducted a military campaign that led to the conquest of Castel d’Ardo di Trichiana and other Treviso castles such as Zumelle and Quero, countering Treviso’s control over the region.
